2005 - Big Record Release News! Yes, in January 2005, Shonen Knife's early albums, "Burning Farm", "Yama-no-Attchan", "Pretty Little Baka Guy" and "712" will be re-released in the U.S. The new CD which they recorded in November will be released in the spring or early summer in Japan 2005. It will also be released in the U.S.A. In my opinion, for the North American Tour which begins from the end of February, they will play mainly early music... some songs not heard live in recent tours! The 24th show in N. America will be their 500 show commemorative! The place is not known yet.

Hi, Shonen Knife Fans! I returned from Shonen Knife gig! Here is my report:
The place Shimokitasawa UNIT is before Shibuya from Yokohama by train. It was good for me! There was a new hall and it is fine! Opening acts were "Electric Eel Shock" and "Polysics". Many crowds came and it was full! "Polysics" is very popular and many of their fans were there, too. Drummer for Shonen Knife tonight was Mana. She does not go to the next U.S. Tour.... but she gave me this information: her regular band "DMBQ" goes to U.S. for tour March 1. 42 shows are planned, and you may be able to see them! The tour of Shonen Knife begins from the East Coast... DMBQ begins from the West Coast. Details on both tours are not known yet. Maybe, the gig of Shonen Knife and DMBQ will be in the same place same day in the midwest somewhere??!! (That is a wish... I want to see it!! 
)

Special Report: October 22, 2004:
I have been to the concert of Mana's RASHINBAN this evening. The concert was the most wonderful I've seen before of them. After the show, I met Mana in the backstage and checked her future schedule. Sadly, she does not go to the coming Shonen Knife U.S. tour. She became a regular member of "DMBQ" in the summer of this year. She had said to me, "I make work schedule on the order of arrival. It will be a win for me, if my schedule is known early. I must give priority to the band which was first for reservation of my time, always."
Yes, Mana is not the regular member of Shonen Knife. "DMBQ" gave her their work in February and March 2005 earlier than Shonen Knife. The U.S. tour of Shonen Knife will be in February, or March. The drummer who goes to the U.S. with Shonen Knife, is probably Ettchan, who supported them instead of Mana in the autumn of last year. Ettchan has been to many practices for their tours. So, The Shonen Knife concerts in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka in December may also be not Mana but Ettchan. This is what Mana said! Ettchan, her real name is Etsuko. She is very young girl. Mana is more eccentric and hot as a drummer, but Ettchan is not bad. She is a good drummer and her drumming is steady and exactly. Please cheer her!

~ 7/11/04: Hi, Shonen Knife Fans! I just came back from the Shonen Knife Show at Shibuya Quattro now. A really great show with them ~ one of the best I've seen. It was awesome set list! Tonight, a new song called "A Spider's House" was played. It's a nice song like "A.A.A.". I will go to the Osaka "712 day party" tomorrow again and get the set list from Mana. I think Mana & I will go out then to enjoy delicious food. :) My full report will come soon, after I return home!
~"Mana Nishiura Homepage" 6/10/04: In June, 2004 Mana Nishiura toured in western USA, as support tour drummer for japanese band "DMBQ". Tour Dates are HERE! Check out the official homepage of superdrummer Mana. You can learn more about her interests and musical projects here. Her friends call her "China" (nickname) but we know her by her name, Mana, here in Shonen Knife Land. Her website is still being programmed so visit often to see new added features. Her 2003 N. American tour with Shonen Knife as support drummer was a great success and she was very much appreciated by fans in the U.S. and Canada! New photos here soon, too!
4/14/04: There is a new CD release, featuring Drummer Mana Nishiura with Guitarist Yamamoto Seiichi's solo work. Very good improvisational music styles. The CD is titled "Nu Frequency" and is to be sold in the U.S. on John Zorn's label.
4/14/04: Some U.S. Fans may have heard of Japanese DVD release featuring bands from a big show at the "Fandango", Tokyo! Shonen Knife are featured performing two songs here. But, please be aware that the DVD is released in the Japanese standard: "Regional Code 2", so U.S. Fans who only can play "Regional Code 1" DVD's, won't be able to play this one, if they get it. So, you can decide if you want this item for your collection.
